I had a modern looking lamp in my young son's room and it got so hot I thought it would set the house on fire. I liked the looks but thought I would have to get rid of it. I got these LED's and replaced the tubes. They were very bright and now the lamp is barely warm. I installed a dimmer as well so we can set any light level.

The lamp has a dimmer and these dim down to almost nothing before shutting off (they get down to about 5% and hold until the switch shuts them off). I am very pleased. Its hard to rate longevity, but I expect these to last a long time.
